Implants And Dental Insurance Coverage
In years past, dental insurance companies rarely covered dental implants, preferring to categorize them as “cosmetic” procedures.
Today, however, some dental benefit plans will pay for part of the dental implant surgery and restoration. As with all types of dental procedures, the extent of coverage depends on the quality of the dental plan (which is mainly determined by how much your employer and/or you pay in monthly premiums).
To find out whether your insurance coverage will pay for dental implants, read your plan carefully, and we can submit a pre-authorization form to your insurance company.
If you’re in the process of shopping for dental insurance, bear in mind that most insurance companies will make you wait for a year before paying for dental implants, and some consider the condition of missing teeth “pre-existing” and won’t extend dental implant benefits at all.
